 My Story

I grew up in Redcar. My father worked long hours away from home and my mother struggled to keep her head above water running her own business.

I watched as she slowly worked herself into the ground and ended up in hospital through sheer exhaustion. I remember visiting her and having the terrible realisation that her spirit had broken and that I, as the oldest of my three siblings, now had to take charge. I was fourteen years old.

I grew up really quickly that day and with an inbuilt passion for helping others, decided I was going to become a teacher.

I loved teaching. But something inside me always wanted more. I wanted to dare. To dream. And yes make more money. But I was determined not to suffer the same fate as my mother. So I started a business selling products on eBay while continuing to teach. It did so well I started another business and then began investing in property. Now I had a decision to make. Stay teaching or go all in.

I took the leap and left the security of teaching to my own businesses full time. Those businesses quickly became four businesses. Then a fifth. I was working fifteen hour days seven days a week. I was exhausted and it was affecting my profits. One night my four-year-old daughter came to ask me to play and I snapped at her though sheer exhaustion. I had become my mother. It was the moment I knew I had to change my approach.

I got more organised and focused on the core essential of business. I found business mentors to guide me. I worked smarter using techniques I’d learnt to slim down every process from marketing to teamwork to cash flow to make them work for me without me needing to be there 24/7. The businesses exploded. There were ups and down but from my mistakes I learnt valuable lessons. So I began adding more businesses as I realised I’d worked out the 6 secrets to get any business on fire. These 6 secrets are what I teach entrepeneurs like you to set your business on fire.

I now spend quality time every day with my children and my partner Steve. I take regular holidays, run ultra marathons and multiple businesses turning over millions. My property portfolio alone is worth 8 million.

Nobody is born with the secret to success. You have to learn it. Sometimes the hard way. I founded Biz on Fire to combine my two passions of teaching and entrepreneurship to offer business owners the support they need to soar.

People often ask me what’s the most important lesson I’ve learnt on my journey to becoming a millionaire by my 30s. I tell them it’s simple and anyone can do it. The most important lesson I have learnt is that the right time to take action is always now. Not tomorrow. Not maybe sometime in the future. Always now.

And those that do take action now are always more successful than those who put things off.
